In November 2020, Big Apple Fanatics Tours was among the first in the U.S. to fully adopt, test, and implement a brand-new technology from Vox Group: wireless tours from the guide’s smartphone to your personal smartphone. The way this works is the guide uses a microphone and a private internet stream to broadcast the tour directly to your own smartphone. The guide is the transmitter, the guest is the receiver. The guests use their personal ear buds, headphones, or headset (bring them to the tour, or a basic plug-in earphone is available for phones with proper jacks). The broadcast distance is up to 500 feet from the guide’s transmission. In this way, even though the guide is wearing a mask and yards away, none of the tour information is lost in a crystal-clear communication with no latency. The guests can spread out more than ten feet apart and not miss any of the tour. This service is provided free by Big Apple Fanatics Tours.
